Here we go again

Well, after giving Blogger a try for a while, I'm finding it to be rather user UNfriendly so I'm moving on:

I'm not obsessed

Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix came out yesterday, and I'm going to see it this weekend!! Hooray! I am currently reading book six in preparation for book seven's delivery to my doorstep in a few weeks. Here's the extra nerdy part: when I see people display their HP love, I feel a kinship with them. I've been known to smile at people on the highway with HP bumper stickers, my favorite being Republicans for Voldemort. I also tend to be a snob about the "bandwagoners". If they started reading the books AFTER the movies came out as part of the mania, they're not real fans, and worse yet it they only like the movies and dare call themselves Harry Potter fans, it is truly unacceptable!! The characters are so much richer in the books, and so many details and funny/sad/telling parts of the tales are missing from the films it is sad that you are missing out. On the whole, the movies are great adaptations (lets not talk about The Prisoner of Azkaban) but are just that, adaptations. I need help.

My name is Leah, I am a caffiene addict.

I am such a pathetic addict. I was in a major foul mood this morning, but then I got to work and had my first cup of that sweet sweet java and my whole day changed. I didn't want to slam the phone down repeatedly when the call center transferred a call, and I got bizarre joy watching someone get ticketed and subsequently towed from in front of my office. Yeah, turns out you need to have license plates on your vehicle to drive it around. Who knew? I swear the sun shone a little brighter after the 2nd cup of coffee and the music playing on the radio was all songs I like. All of this happiness brought on by just a little brewed beverage. Thank you, coffee, for making the world a better place.

Chunky Delicious

On my multi-weekly trip to Coffee Bean this morning, I shook it up and got a nice iced latte since we've been having some sort of heat wave. As I'm getting settled into my desk and trying to decide what to procrastinate on doing first, I take a big old swig and feel something scratching down my throat. I look at the bottom of the cup and there is a pile of coffee grounds just hanging out there. Now, I have been known to enjoy a chocolate covered coffee bean now and then, and sometimes just chew on one while I'm grinding his little friends into French Roast kibble, but when there is a bunch of the grounds in my drink when I'm not expecting it is a different story completely. I don't enjoy eating or imbibing things that very closely resemble dirt (and could be for all I know). I'm really weird about food, if lettuce is too wilty I won't eat it (ecoli), if fruit or a veggie has holes in it I won't eat it (bugs), if the brick of cheese has mold on one side the whole thing goes in the trash, so I'm not real impressed with the chunks in my coffee. Thanks a lot Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf for giving me one more thing to spaz about.

But I NEED it!

Target is a black hole for all my money. I go in there for a few little things like Q tips and toilet paper and end up walking out of there with Q tips, TP, a few tank tops, a new bra, toothbrushes, a cord for my ipod, some cool looking stuff for my hair, new sandals and $100 poorer. This happens every time. Every damn time. Target has some sort of power over me and my debit card. As soon as the electric doors whoosh open, I go all zombie. Instead of needing brains to survive, I need a bunch of useless crap. I'm practically shuffling around there with my wallet open in one hand dragging my dead leg behind me moaning "Lip gloss! Liiiiiiip gloooooooss!"

Who's Brilliant Idea was Summertime Colds?

Ugh. I've been out sick the last few days with a disgusting summer cold. I'm still feeling pretty hazy, so I'm not really productive at work today. Sorry, PLCU. I spent the last 2 days lying on my couch watching reality shows on TLC, we're talking A Wedding Story, A Baby Story, Bringing Home Baby and the like. It was pretty awesome. There are all of these lovely functional happy families out there, and all they want is to have it on video for the whole world to see and share in their joy. I usually end up mocking them, and then flipping to Maury when it gets too gooey for me. Nothing like a "who's my baby daddy" show to counteract the saccharine sweetness of TLC.

Sunburns are dumb

I got a wicked sunburn sitting at the beach bars on Sunday. My back and chest are pretty crispy, but the worst part of it is the part in my hair. We're talking disgusting blisters that popped all over the place last night, scabby and painful. I bet if you shaved my head in a few days it would have a nice brown line all the way down the middle. But then my head would probably look like a butt, so please don't.

Online... on campus?

Ok, so I guess I'm not taking classes this summer. I dropped my two Chicano Studies because I don't have time to read 3 books outside of regular class work, and I don't really feel like researching a "cultural event" to attend and write a paper on. I took online classes because they are supposed to be easy, HELLO!! So, I figured Chicano Studies are out and I'll just take it easy and go with the one English class I signed up for. Well, I signed on today to find out that there are 3 in class tests. In class as in on campus in the middle of the day. You know, when I'm working. Does this guy not understand the point of a summer online class? ONLINE, meaning on my computer without ever seeing you face to face, so now I have to drop the class. Wonderful.

Lets go to camp!

Its official, there will be a Ponies convention next weekend! Miss Ashley is coming down for a bridal shower and we're turning it into Camp Blaster. We've got camp uniforms, a hike planned, arts and crafts. Be prepared for some sweet ass pictures in the next few weeks!
